There are a lot of amazing approach & landing views in the world, but one of my favorites is this one — hugging the Mississippi River with a perfect angle to downtown St. Louis, Missouri and the iconic Gateway Arch. 67 3
I’m truly blessed to have called this guy one of my best friends for more than 20 years now. I’m going to sound like such a sap, but we’ve been through so much together as friends and know most (maybe all) of each other’s dirty secrets. And as the seasons of life change, as we’ve moved across the country and traveled the world, we’ve always been no more than a text message or phone call away from picking right back up on our friendship. After a fantastic weekend with the guys in NYC celebrating this man, I’m looking forward to celebrating your marriage next month, Dan. Love you, man. 124 4
DID YOU KNOW that Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were good friends? So good, in fact, that they had winter homes right next to each other in beautiful Fort Myers, Florida! The men, together with Harvey Firestone, founder of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, worked in Edison’s Fort Myers laboratory to find a new source of rubber in the United States. 74 2
Who doesn’t love a historic walking/rolling tour? Some cities are certainly more walkable/rollable than others, and I’m pleased to say that the historic downtown “River District” in Fort Myers is one of the best. I enjoyed a 90-minute tour with True Tours during my trip earlier this summer. It’s a beautiful city! 121 3

Yesterday, I felt as small as an acorn beneath General Sherman, the Giant Sequoia Tree that is the world’s largest tree (by volume). It’s a humbling experience that alters one’s perspective. General Sherman is 275 feet tall, has a diameter of 36 feet and sprouted from a seed between 2,300 and 2,700 years ago! 142 8
The Winnebago Inspire is a wheelchair accessible RV, complete with everything I need to enjoy an accessible road trip! It’s got a heavy-duty Braun wheelchair lift (800 lbs. capacity), a 3 burner stovetop and so much more. 186 18
Park Ranger Roy sharing some insight about the ecology of the Caloosahatchee Creeks Preserve, a wetland owned by the Lee County and free for public use. A wheelchair accessible boardwalk runs through this nature preserve. 100 2
Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were snowbirds, too. They came to Florida each winter to relax (and work) on their estates in Fort Myers! They’ve been beautifully preserved and are open to the public. 85 4
Today, I went on a tour of “Little Africa” in Rio de Janeiro’s Centro District. The tour appealed to me because, as many of you know, I studied history in graduate school with a focus on the Reconstruction Era and the experiences of African Americans in the early decades of the 20th century. 136 6
On this #DivineMercy Sunday, I was blessed to attend Mass at the Pro-Cathedral of St. John the Apostle and Evangelist, my former home parish. How great it was to reconnect old friends and the pastor, Monsignor Delaney. Each time I return to this place, my faith is re-energized and I find so much joy. Thanks be to God! 66 3
Yesterday was my sister’s birthday. We were supposed to meet for dinner last night, but I took an evening “power nap” that lasted until 2 a.m. 🙊 99 0
